RRe: Artistic director promises new era for GCTC , Nov. 25
I am writing about the above article about the new Great Canadian Theatre Company building. The photo caption (but not the article!) included the statement that the GCTC “is moving to the new location in Westboro in 2007.”
The GCTC is moving to Hintonburg. The new theatre will be located at the northeast corner of Holland and Wellington. Westboro does not start until you reach Churchill Avenue, at least a kilometre west of Holland. The Hintonburg Community Association has spent many years educating the media about where Hintonburg is located.
The Hintonburg Community Association represents the area between the O-train tracks and Holland Avenue, and between Scott Street and the Queensway. We are very proud of Hintonburg, its distinctive history, and its present eclectic and vibrant nature. So please forgive us for being a bit touchy about being confused with Westboro (a very nice place, but not Hintonburg).
