It’s 10:30 a.m. on a Sunday, and a long line is already forming for the 11 a.m. Kinderconcert at the National Arts Centre. Parents and grandparents wait patiently as young children race around the lush red carpet, spending some energy before they settle down to listen to a trombone quintet.
 

 
James Lumsden has been interested in filmmaking ever since he can remember. When he was a child, he used to pretend he worked in the movies.  

 
The lights dim and the audience in the South Keys Cineplex Odeon goes silent. But instead of the usual movie previews, the theatre is filled with the sounds of an orchestra warming up with a little Tchaikovsky and the rustling of an entirely different audience at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.
 

 
Twang is back in a big way. It might be a bit strange to hear, but music with banjos and southern swagger may be the next big thing on the Canadian music scene.
